The 3rd GAP Adaptive Championship, set for Oct. 12-13, heads to Atlantic City Country Club in Northfield, N.J. The event will mark the first Association competition to visit the property since the 1995 Philadelphia Amateur Championship. James Kania, Sr. of Overbrook Golf Club took the title that year.

“We are excited to have the 3rd GAP Adaptive Championship at Atlantic City Country Club,” GAP Manager of Adaptive Golf/Women’s Golf Molly Baker said. “Given Atlantic City Country Club’s rich history, championship-level conditioning and vibrant club support, players can expect an event complete with high-level competition that also celebrates the Adaptive Golf community.”

The GAP Adaptive Championship is a two-day, 36-hole event offering both local and international players a competitive opportunity to showcase their skills alongside other adaptive athletes. Last year, a total of 15 states and three countries, including Canada, Colombia and the United States, were represented in the field.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. on April 15 and is open to all individuals with a WR4GD pass who hold an active Handicap Index. Both GAP members and non-members are welcome to register.

The field is limited to 60 players. Once registration closes, the committee will release disability classifications, based on field representation, for the championship.

“Atlantic City has a long and rich history with the GAP, and this was an easy decision for the club. Everyone that participates has an amazing story that is pure inspiration,” Atlantic City’s Director of Golf Mike Burke, 52, of Mount Laurel, N.J., said. “[Players] can expect a historical and old school layout that is fair, but protected by the wind and the greens…I’m confident that the players will enjoy the golf course, but more importantly feel the excitement and honor the entire staff has for each and every one of them.”

GAP Adaptive

In 2024, GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia) launched GAP Adaptive to continue its mission of promoting, preserving and protecting the game of golf for all. GAP’s Adaptive Golf committee opened the season with its first program titled No Limit Clinics, a season-long series of instructional Adaptive Golf events taking place at various GAP Member Clubs. The GAP Adaptive season culminates with the GAP Adaptive Championship, a WR4GD-counting event. The field consists of local and international Adaptive Golfers.
