Riverview hosts first GAP Adaptive Play Day of the season

The first GAP Adaptive Play Day of the 2026 season took place at Riverview Golf Course in New Cumberland, Pa., providing adaptive golfers and their families with an accessible, welcoming environment to enjoy the game on the course.

Building upon the success of GAP Adaptive’s No Limit Clinics, Adaptive Play Days are designed to give participants an opportunity to continue developing their skills in a relaxed setting without the pressure of traditional tee times or pace-of-play expectations. Adaptive Play Days allow adaptive athletes the chance to gain confidence on the golf course and experience Adaptive Golf in a supportive community setting.

Throughout the day, participants utilized adaptive equipment, including GAP Adaptive’s SoloRider and ParaMotion, allowing adaptive athletes of varying abilities to navigate and enjoy the course.

A Day of firsts and new experiences

Tom White enjoyed nine holes while using the SoloRider.

“Having the opportunity to use the SoloRider was fantastic,” White said. “It was a real eye-opener to see what is available for golfers with disabilities. Being able to get back into the game I have loved for more than 60 years was incredibly rewarding. Thank you, GAP, for this wonderful opportunity.”

The Riverview Adaptive Play Day marked Antonio Gonzales’ first time playing on a full-length golf course. Gonzales’, a junior golfer, played alongside his father.

The next GAP Adaptive Play Day will take place 9-11 a.m. July 10 at John F. Byrne Golf Club. The full Adaptive Play Days schedule is available on gapadaptive.org.

GAP Adaptive

In 2024, GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia) launched GAP Adaptive to continue its mission of promoting, preserving and protecting the game of golf for all. GAP’s Adaptive Golf committee opened the season with its first program titled No Limit Clinics, a season-long series of instructional Adaptive Golf events taking place at various GAP Member Clubs. The GAP Adaptive season culminates with the GAP Adaptive Championship, a WR4GD-counting event. The field consists of local and international Adaptive Golfers.
