Fresh off its adaptive golf programming launch, GAP (Golf Association of Philadelphia) has announced its inaugural GAP Adaptive Championship set for this fall.
The GAP Adaptive Championship is a prestigious 36-hole, two-day competitive tournament designed to showcase the remarkable abilities of adaptive golfers. Set to take place on Oct. 14-15, 2024 at the picturesque venues of Lookaway Golf Club and Doylestown Country Club, this championship promises to be an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.
More than just an elite tournament, the GAP Adaptive Championship aims to create a welcoming environment for golfers of all abilities. As a WR4GD-counting event, it provides adaptive athletes with a platform to demonstrate their talents at the highest level of competitive golf. With a focus on inclusivity and camaraderie, this championship is open to all individuals with a WR4GD pass and an active Handicap Index. Both GAP members and non-members are welcome to play.
Registration is set to open April 15.
Diversity is at the heart of the GAP Adaptive Championship. With a maximum score format and limited to 60 players of all genders, this event ensures that every participant has the opportunity to shine. From overall champions for men and women to individual champions in each classification, the championship will celebrate the diverse talents and achievements within the adaptive golfing community.
Prepare for two days of thrilling competition as players showcase their skills on the layouts of Lookaway for the first round, followed by the final round at Doylestown. Ties for overall champions will be decided through sudden death playoffs, adding an extra layer of excitement to the event. Additionally, ties for other positions will be resolved using USGA-recommended scorecard tie-breaking methods, ensuring fair and competitive outcomes.
